Terms of taking part
The terms that apply to taking part in a CoBuild programme.
These are the terms for taking part in a programme on CoBuild. CoBuild is run by Indisight ("we"), of Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not create an account.
1. Who can take part
- You must be 18 or older, unless you are taking part through your school as described in section 2.
- You join either through your institution, with the code it gave you, or through Indisight Open, which is for people aged 18 or older.
- One account per person. The account is yours alone: do not share your password or let someone else use your account.
- The details you give us must be true, and you must keep them up to date.
2. If you are under 18
You can take part only through a school that Indisight has agreed may enrol participants under 18, and only with the code that school gave you.
- Your school enrolled you, and your parent or guardian has given the school their consent for you to take part. When you create your account you confirm that this is so. The school holds that consent, not us.
- Your parent or guardian should read these terms and the privacy notice with you. By letting you take part they agree to them on your behalf.
- We do not keep a phone number or a LinkedIn link for you, and an organisation that sets a challenge is never shown your name or anything else about you.
- Your parent or guardian can ask your school, or us, to show them what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account.
- If you are under 18 and your school did not enrol you, do not create an account.
3. How a programme works
- You work in a team. Your programme sets how many people a team may have.
- Organisations ("partners") set challenges. Your team chooses one and submits a response for each round before that round closes.
- A round is closed by the people running the programme. A response that reached us before the round closed counts, even if the site was busy. One that reached us after it closed does not.
- Responses are assessed by evaluators against a published rubric. Some teams go on to the next round and some do not.
- You can ask for a call with a mentor listed on the platform. A request is not a booking: Indisight or your institution arranges it, and a mentor may not be available.
- We do not promise that any team will advance, win anything, or receive a prize, a certificate or an offer of any kind from a partner. If your programme offers any of these, the people running it will tell you the conditions.
4. Your work
It stays yours. You and your teammates keep whatever rights you have in what you submit.
What you allow us to do with it. By submitting, your team gives Indisight, your institution if you joined through one, the partner whose challenge you answered, and the evaluators and mentors assigned to your team permission to store, read and assess your submission, for the purpose of running the programme. That permission does not let any of them publish it, sell it, or build on it without a separate agreement with your team.
What you promise about it. Each time your team submits, you confirm that:
- it is your team's own work;
- it does not contain confidential information belonging to an employer, a client, or anyone else who has not agreed to its use;
- you have the right to submit everything in it, including any text, images, data or code made by someone else;
- it does not break the law.
AI tools. You may use AI tools unless your programme says otherwise. If you do, say where you used them, and the promises above still apply to that part: the thinking and the choices must be your team's own.
Feedback. If a mentor or evaluator gives your team feedback, you may use it freely.
5. Judging is blind
Evaluators and partners see a team's name and its work. They are not shown who is in the team while they are assessing it.
That only holds if your document does not say who you are. Do not put your names, your school or college, or your contact details in what you submit. If you share a link, make sure the link does not show your name. The name of the file you upload is shown to evaluators, so do not put your name in it.
If your team is shortlisted, the partner for your challenge can then see each adult member's name, institution, programme of study, short bio and LinkedIn link, if one was given. They are never shown an email address or a phone number through the platform, and they are never shown anything about a member who is under 18.
6. What you must not do
- Submit work that is not your team's, or that you do not have the right to submit.
- Try to see another team's work, or another institution's participants.
- Try to find out who is evaluating your team, or contact an evaluator about your submission.
- Upload anything harmful: malware, or files meant to damage or probe the platform.
- Interfere with the platform, try to get around its limits, or use it for anything other than taking part.
- Harass, threaten or abuse anyone you meet through a programme.
7. What happens if you do
We, or your institution, may remove a submission, remove you from a team, suspend your account, or withdraw your team from a programme. Where we can, we will tell you why. If you think a decision was wrong, write to ravi@indisight.com.
8. Leaving
- You can leave a team from the team page while teams are still being formed. A team is withdrawn when its last member leaves.
- To close your account, write to ravi@indisight.com, or ask your institution to. There is no button for this yet.
- What happens to your data when you leave is in the privacy notice.
9. The platform
- We work to keep CoBuild available and your work safe, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors. Submit before the last minute.
- Keep your own copy of anything you submit.
- We may change how the platform works. If we change these terms, we will ask you to accept the new version before you carry on.
10. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for running the platform with reasonable care. We are not responsible for decisions made by evaluators, partners, mentors or your institution, for an offer a partner does or does not make, or for losses that come from a team missing a deadline.
Taking part is free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for loss of work that you did not keep a copy of. Nothing in these terms limits a responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit.
11. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts in Hyderabad, Telangana.
